Not only is she an honor student with a 4.0 GPA, she is also an athlete who happens to be Liberty Ranchs number one cross country female this season.

Faith attended St. Peter in Lodi before beginning her high school career at Liberty Ranch. According to the high school boundaries Faith was in the Galt High School attendance area, but because she lives geographically closer to Liberty Ranch, she applied for an inter-district transfer and was granted attendance there when she began her freshman year.

Faith is a scholar student completing AP U.S. History, AP World History, and Honors English and is currently taking AP Statistics, AP English, Journalism and AP Government. After completing her Bachelor of Arts, Faith hopes to attend a graduate program for writing and would love to go to Pratt in Brooklyn known as one of the best writing schools in the nation.

Faith has always wanted to write. In fact, she got involved in the journalism class her freshman year at Liberty Ranch because it was the only writing program offered at the school.

My real passion for writing is creative writing, said Faith. As long as I can remember, I have been writing stories.

Faith wrote her first book her eighth grade year and that book was about 100 pages long. She just finished her second book Straying From Shadows and is working on getting that published.

With her busy academic schedule and all that homework, Faith also has cross-country practice every day after school and meets on the weekends. She is a captain this year, so she encourages her teammates to put out their best effort and keeps them motivated. Times vary depending on the course, but Faith can generally finish a three-mile course in 21 minutes. She was also the top runner as a Junior last year and made All-League and moved onto sub-sections. This year she hopes to move on to Masters and beat enough runners to make it to the State Meet.

Mom, Jennifer Lewis, encourages her daughter to reach her potential and she suggested Faith contact The Galt Herald about becoming an intern. Jennifer really began to notice Faiths love for writing in middle school.

She had a very good literature teacher in middle school and while other kids would turn in a six or seven page short story, Faith would turn in a 31 page fully composed story, said Jennifer.

Originally posted here:
Liberty Ranch student sets sights on writing career

The Galt Herald would like to introduce Faith Lewis, a 17-year-old Liberty Ranch High School senior who has been writing stories as an intern for the Herald.
