The Bitcoin Bowl was too beautiful for this world.<\/p>\n

We only got one Bitcoin Bowl. The 2015 St. Petersburg Bowl will not carry sponsorship from BitPay,according to CoinDesk, meaning the game's online currency branding only lasted one season. <\/p>\n

BitPay had signed up to sponsor the game for three years, but apparently came to a mutual decision with ESPN to end the sponsorship after just one game.The game's website no longer includes any references to Bitcoin, and the logo,which had featured the word \"Bitcoin\" above a bridge and a Bitcoin logo in Tampa Bay, now features a blank space where the wordmark was and a setting sun where the coin was. And the bowl's Twitter account has reverted to \"@StPeteBowl.\" <\/p>\n

The idea of a game named after online currency caused a variety of reactions.First off, humor: <\/p>\n

Second off: confusion as to the variety of mascots: <\/p>\n

But the event was also a proud moment for the Bitcoin community, who got exposure\/recognition on par with the other, more mainstream companies that sponsor bowl games. <\/p>\n

There's no word on potential sponsors for next year's game. Although we're holding out hope for Beef 'O' Brady's. <\/p>\n
