Marrakech, Nov 28 (IANS): The 2nd World Forum on Human Rights has begun here with the participation of more than 6,000 people from a hundred countries. <\/p>\n
The forum, which will last till Nov 30, is a platform to tackle several issues, including the rights of children, women, disabled people and migrants, in addition to other unresolved issues from the Vienna Conference on Human Rights and other issues related to the new generation of human rights, MAP news agency said. <\/p>\n
The opening session Thursday was marked by the message of Morocco's King Mohammed VI, who is the patron of the conference. This is the first time that Morocco has hosted such a conference, a tribute to its progress on the human rights front. <\/p>\n
The list of participants includes Nobel Peace Prize winners, heads of UN agencies, government representatives, NGOs, leading academics, human rights activists and international media. <\/p>\n
The meeting will feature thematic forums that will be organized and managed by civil society stakeholders. The main conclusions of these forums will be presented at a final conference that will bring together civil society, representatives of the international system of human rights protection and international NGOs. <\/p>\n
The 1st World Forum on Human Rights was held in 2013 in Brazil. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
