The DNA evidence procured from the three items from Anwar Ibrahims cell matches the sample obtained from Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan's clothing, the prosecution submitted. <\/p>\n
Lead prosecutorMuhammad Shafee Abdullah told the Federal Court that chemist Dr Nor Aidora Saedon had analysed the DNA samples obtained from the Good morning towel, mineral water bottle and toothbrush taken from the cell occupied by the opposition leader and found that it matched the Male Y DNA profile found on Mohd Saifuls underwear. <\/p>\n
The prosecution had earlier resumed submissions on the fifth day of Anwars appeal against a sodomy conviction. <\/p>\n
Shafee had challenged the defences failure to cross-examine the police over the recovery of the towel, mineral water bottle and toothbrush. <\/p>\n
He had said that there was no issue of conspiracy as the police officers merely testified as to what they had seen with regard to those three items and did not add more stories to implicate Anwar. <\/p>\n
The lawyer had further argued that illegally obtained exhibits were still admissible as evidence. <\/p>\n
