Investigative journalist Carl Bernstein and politician Ron Paul were set to come to the Eisenhower Auditorium on April 15, but it was confirmed earlier today that the event will be canceled. <\/p>\n
President of the Penn State College Republicans Jordan Harris said in a statement that things like this happen in the world of politics, but we wont skip a beat. <\/p>\n
Its quite unfortunate that we will not be able to host another Great Debate, Harris said in the statement. The event would have served as a tremendous follow-up to last years debate between Robert Gibbs and Newt Gingrich and a great way to cap off the year. <\/p>\n
The free event was scheduled to center on issues related to taxes and the economy, which is why it was planned for Tax Day, president of the Penn State College Democrats Nadia Lehtihet said, as previously reported. <\/p>\n
[The College Republicans and College Democrats at Penn State] may disagree ideologically on a myriad of issues but at the core we both understand the importance of engaging our fellow students in the political process, Harris said in the statement. <\/p>\n
Last years debate between Newt Gingrich and Robert Gibbs sold out Schwab Auditorium and UPUA has been looking into this years debate ever since, UPUA off-campus representative and vice chair of student life John Wortman said, as previously reported. <\/p>\n
