{"id":206027,"date":"2017-07-17T04:25:38","date_gmt":"2017-07-17T08:25:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/prometheism-transhumanism-posthumanism\/scottish-island-famed-for-1960-lighthouse-murder-case-on-market-the-scotsman\/"},"modified":"2017-07-17T04:25:38","modified_gmt":"2017-07-17T08:25:38","slug":"scottish-island-famed-for-1960-lighthouse-murder-case-on-market-the-scotsman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/prometheism-transhumanism-posthumanism\/private-islands\/scottish-island-famed-for-1960-lighthouse-murder-case-on-market-the-scotsman\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish island famed for 1960 lighthouse murder case on market &#8211; The Scotsman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>      06:00 Monday 17 July 2017    <\/p>\n<p>    A Scottish island which became famous for a high-profile murder    case more than 50 years ago has been put up for sale.  <\/p>\n<p>    Little Ross, off the coast of Dumfries and Galloway, has been    put on the market for 325,000 by its current owners  around    the same price as a two-bedroom flat in Edinburgh city centre.  <\/p>\n<p>    The 29-acre island is home to a 19th-century, fully automated    lighthouse tower and gained national media attention in August    1960 when two visitors discovered the body of interim keeper    Hugh Clark.  <\/p>\n<p>    Robert Dickson, another relief keeper, was initially sentenced    to hang for the murder, however his punishment was later    downgraded to life imprisonment.  <\/p>\n<p>    The listing includes a six-bedroom, B-listed cottage and    courtyard, but the lighthouse tower is not part of the deal.  <\/p>\n<p>    The tower, designed by Alan Stevenson, was built in 1843 to    close the gap between other lighthouses at the Mull of Galloway    and Southerness and remained manned until the infamous murder    over a century later.  <\/p>\n<p>    It is now owned and managed by the Commissioners for Northern    Lighthouses who make regular maintenance visits to the property    throughout the year.
