Theresa May is due to meet Natos secretary general next week and the pair are expected to discuss the topic. <\/p>\n

The US are sending at least 3,000 more soldiers to the Middle Eastern country to fight the Taliban, according to US reports. <\/p>\n

Around 500 British soldiers remain in Afghanistan to train at the Afghan Officer Academy, advise local forces and provide security in Kabul. <\/p>\n

Fifty of the remaining soldiers were sent to battle terrorism and train Afghan leaders. <\/p>\n

The last UK combat troops left in October 2014. <\/p>\n
