The Department of Health has said it expects negotiations with a drug company on treatments for Cystic Fibrosis will conclude \"in a matter of weeks\". <\/p>\n
Talks on what price the Government is prepared to pay for Orkambi, Kalydeco and other treatments have been ongoing for months and many CF patients and their familieshave expressed frustration that no agreement has been reached. <\/p>\n
In a statement, the Department said Minister for Health Simon Harris \"is acutely aware that the last number of months have been a stressful and worrying time for CF patients and their families.\" <\/p>\n
The statement added \"the Government's priority is to achieve the best outcome for Irish patients and the health system overall.\" <\/p>\n
It follows a call by Cystic Fibrosis Ireland for both sides in the talks to show generosity and to reach an agreement without further delay. <\/p>\n
