OSAGE | An Osage woman is accused of gambling with her mother's money and not leaving enough for the older woman's care. <\/p>\n
Marilyn Jo Spartz, 58, was charged with felony second-degree theft. <\/p>\n
She's accused of gambling with her mother's money from July to December at Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, according to court documents. <\/p>\n
Formal charges were filed last week by Assistant Mitchell County Attorney Aaron Murphy. Her next court appearance is Tuesday. <\/p>\n
Investigators say Spartz, who lived with her mother, also used the money to buy a bus ticket to bring her boyfriend to Iowa. <\/p>\n
They allege $2,315.50 was improperly spent. <\/p>\n
The theft was discovered when Spartz's mother's health insurance company declined to pay her medical bills from a recent hospitalization, according to the complaint. <\/p>\n
Police say the woman's health care plan had been canceled because there wasn't enough money in her checking account to pay for the insurance. <\/p>\n
