Former U.S. Representative, presidential candidate and physician Ron Paul will speak at UF on April 15. <\/p>\n
During his three-decade political career, Paul ran for president three separate times, most recently in 2012. Pauls son, Rand Paul, headed a nearly 13-hour filibuster earlier this month. <\/p>\n
Hosted by Accent Speakers Bureau, Paul will speak at the Stephen C. OConnell Center on Tax Day. <\/p>\n
It was just a coincidence that he happened to be available on Tax Day, said Accent chairman Josh Holtzman. <\/p>\n
This certainly enhances the event because so much of what he talks about has to deal with taxing and economic issues facing the country. Its probably the best day to hear him speak. <\/p>\n
The doors open at 7 p.m., and the event begins at 8 p.m. <\/p>\n
Paul will be paid $55,000 to come speak about the causes and solutions of the political economic situation, said Holtzman, a 22-year-old UF political science and history senior. <\/p>\n
Admission is free. <\/p>\n
It will be first-come, first-served seating. <\/p>\n
Holtzman said the Q-and-A portion of the night could get controversial. <\/p>\n
