RWE and Vattenfall have confirmed that none of their offshore wind farms off south and south-east England have suffered damage from the arrival of Storm Ciaran. <\/p>\n
The powerful storm unleashed wind speeds in excess of 100mph across north-west France and the Channel Islands as it swept in from the Atlantic on the morning of 2 November. <\/p>\n
A major incident was put in place for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight as the south of England also bore the brunt. <\/p>\n
An RWE spokesman told reNEWS that nothing has been reported at the 400MW 116-turbine Rampion array near Sussex, which became the first offshore wind farm off the south coast of England when it opened in April 2018. <\/p>\n
According to the developer there were also no reported problems at London Array. <\/p>\n
The 630MW offshore wind farm is located 20 km off the north coast of Kent in the Outer Thames Estuary. <\/p>\n
Vattenfall added that there were no weather-related problems at the Thanet (300MW) or Kentish Flats (140MW) arrays, which are both also located off the coast of Kent. <\/p>\n
