The Divisional Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2021-22 regular season that honors the top performing players in each of the four NAHL divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the Divisional Players of the Week award.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Central Division Star of the Week: Jake McLean, Forward, Bismarck Bobcats<\/p>\n<p>McLean, 19, had a big weekend for the Bobcats as they picked up a sweep of a home-and-home series against the Aberdeen Wings. The 61\/175 lbs. native of North Vancouver, BC, had four points in the two wins, which included 3 goals and an assist and a +4 rating. On Friday, McLean had two goals and an assist in a 5-2 road win, and then on Saturday, he had a goal in a 4-1 win. For the season, McLean currently leads the Bobcats in scoring with 30 points in 34 games played. Jake has been our most consistent player all year for us. He is an all-around 200-foot player and gets rewarded almost every night for it, and it's going to make him a very effective college player as well, said Bobcats head coach Layne Sedevie.<\/p>\n<p>2nd Star: Oskar Spinnars Nordin, G, Bismarck Bobcats <\/p>\n<p>Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jacob Bosse, F, Aberdeen Wings  Nick Catalano, F, Austin Bruins  Owen DuBois, F, Aberdeen Wings  Byron Hartley, F, North Iowa Bulls  Colby Joseph, F, Minot Minotauros  Blake Mesenburg, F, St. Cloud Norsemen  Michael Mesic, F, North Iowa Bulls  Austin Salani, F, Austin Bruins  Austin Zavoda, G, Minot Minotauros<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>East Division Star of the Week: Chris Carroll, Forward, New Jersey Titans<\/p>\n<p>Titans forward Chris Carroll, 20, helped his club widen their lead in the East Division with a weekend home sweep of the Maine Nordiques. The 511\/180 lbs. native of Islip, NY had four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in the two wins. On Friday, Carroll had two assists in a 3-1 win. On Saturday, he picked up a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win. For the season, Carroll is 3rd in team scoring with 39 points in 33 NAHL games played this season. Chris has been a consistent force for our club since being acquired shortly before Thanksgiving. He is a talented 200-foot hockey player, who had added veteran leadership to the dressing room as well. This past weekend he was able to contribute some big time points for us in two big home wins vs Maine. We look forward to Chris continuing his strong play as we continue to chase the Robertson Cup Playoffs, said Titans head coach Craig Doremus.<\/p>\n<p>2nd Star: Salvatore Evola, G, Johnstown Tomahawks<\/p>\n<p>Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Tyler Gaulin, F, Maine Nordiques  Ryan Gordon, F, Northeast Generals  Kyle Schroeder, F, Northeast Generals  Avery Sturtz, G, Maine Nordiques  Andrew Takacz, G, New Jersey Titans<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Midwest Division Star of the Week: William Persson, Forward, Minnesota Wilderness<\/p>\n<p>The Wilderness got back to the winning side of things this past weekend with a home-and-home sweep of the Minnesota Magicians. 20-year-old forward William Persson was an offense force in both wins, racking up five points (3 goals, 2 assists). On Friday, the 62\/192 lbs. native of Bjorklinge, Sweden had two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in a 6-3 win. On Saturday, he had another goal and an assist in a 5-4 road win. For the season, Persson is 2nd in team scoring with 33 points in 30 games played to date. William is one of the most talented players in the league. His size strength and skill level are as good as we have ever had in our program. We are excited to see William get recognized for the outstanding play last weekend, said Wilderness head coach Dave Boitz.<\/p>\n<p>2nd Star: Ethan Benz, F, Chippewa Steel <\/p>\n<p>Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Mason Campbell, D, Minnesota Magicians  Ryan Finch, F, Kenai River Brown Bears  Jake Hale, F, Fairbanks Ice Dogs  Cy LeClerc, F, Janesville Jets  Braden Lindstrom, F, Chippewa Steel  Connor Mahony, F, Minnesota  Cal Mell, D, Janesville Jets  Nicholas Rexine, F, Minnesota Wilderness  Jack Ring, F, Fairbanks Ice Dogs<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>South Division Star of the Week: Beni Halasz, Goaltender, New Mexico Ice Wolves<\/p>\n<p>New Mexico goalie Beni Halasz, 20, kept his MVP-caliber season going this past weekend, leading the 1st place Ice Wolves to a pair of wins in Amarillo against the Wranglers. The 60\/180 lbs. native of Budapest, Hungary, faced 65 shots on the weekend and allowed just one goal in each game, making 63 total saves. On Friday, Halasz made 34 saves in a 4-1 win. On Saturday, he made 29 saves in a 3-1 win. Halasz currently leads the NAHL in goals against average with a 1.98 mark and he is tied for 2nd in save percentage (.929) and wins (17). Beni was huge for us last weekend. He made some big time saves at some big-time moments of the games.
