After his decorated RCMP career, Jim was elected a City of Fort St. John Councillor from 2002 2005 and then, Mayor from 2005-2008.<\/p>\n
Despite moving to Yellowhead County over 11 years ago, Jim says that he still considers the Peace Region to be home.<\/p>\n
Ive never lived in a place as long in my life as I did in Fort St. John. Even growing up, my parents moved a couple of times. I consider this home. Every time we come here when I get to the top of the hill I say theres the Peace River, were home.<\/p>\n
Englinski says receiving this award makes him very humble.<\/p>\n
I had a team of people: council members, staff members, and community members that could see the same vision and for us all to work together to make Fort St. John a better community and to be recognized for that leadership role is very humbling, Eglinkski said<\/p>\n
The Freedom of the City is the highest honour given by the City of Fort St. John and is used in exceptional cases to recognize the significant contributions the recipient has made to the community of Fort St. John.<\/p>\n
