The first was in the 1928 edition, courtesy of swimmer Teofilo Yldefonso's bronze in the men's 200m backstroke. Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz is the country's latest Olympic medalist, having won silver in the 2016 Rio Games.<\/p>\n<p>The Philippine Olympic Committee is looking to send at least 16 athletes to the Tokyo Olympics scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 8, and so far six Filipino athletes have qualified.
