Are you Going to GET?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>I want to congratulate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northshore.org\/clinicalservices\/medicalgenetics\/staff\/default.aspx?id=4442\">Dr Peter <span>Hulick<\/span> M.D. Medical Geneticist\/Internist.<\/a><\/span><\/p><div><span><br><\/span><\/div><div><span>I just read his wonderful article in the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.internalmedicinenews.com\/home\"> Internal Medicine News.<\/a> For those who don't know Dr. <span>Hulick<\/span>, he is on heck of a doctor and a really nice guy. I look forward to more articles from him in the future!<\/span><\/div><div><span><br><\/span><\/div><div><span>Secondly, after all the big splash effort about the GET conference, I would like to encourage readers to attend.<\/span><\/div><div><span><br><\/span><\/div><div><span><br><\/span><\/div><div><span><span>&ldquo;The GET Conference 2010 marks the last opportunity in history to gather a majority of individuals in the world with public personal genome sequences in a single venue,&rdquo; says George Church, founder and principal investigator of the Personal Genome Project and professor of genetics at Harvard Medical School.  &ldquo;With rapid advances in technology, the number of individuals with personal genome sequences is expected to rise dramatically, from dozens today to thousands by 2011 and a million or more individuals within the next few years.&rdquo;<\/span><\/span><\/div><div><span><span><br><\/span><\/span><\/div><div><span><span>That is a pretty heady statement by Dr. Church. Does he really think 2010 will be the year that 1000s of people will get whole genomes done?<\/span><\/span><\/div><div><span><span><br><\/span><\/span><\/div><div><span><span>I say, maybe a little hype. How about hundreds? Maybe....<\/span><\/span><\/div><div><span><span><br><\/span><\/span><\/div><div><span><span><span><span>The morning portion of GET Conference 2010 will feature <\/span><\/span><span><span>wide-ranging<\/span><\/span><span><span> discussions during which personal genome pioneers and globally recognized leaders of genomic science and industry, including the genetic bad-a$$ Misha <span>Angrist<\/span>, The <span>O'l<\/span> Man: George Church, <span>Joltin<\/span> Jay <span>Flatley<\/span>, \"Do You Know Who I Am!\" Henry Louis Gates, Jr., <span>Rosalynn<\/span> Gill, <span>Seong<\/span>-<span>Jin<\/span> Kim, Greg <span>Lucier<\/span>, James <span>Lupski<\/span>, Stephen Quake, Dan \"Where's my refund?\" <span>Stoicescu<\/span> and James \"Well, It's True\" Watson, will share their experiences and discuss the future of personal <span>genomics<\/span>. Award-winning science journalists Carl <span>Zimmer<\/span> and Robert <span>Krulwich<\/span> will moderate the discussions.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div><div><span><span><br><\/span><\/span><\/div><div><span><span>Why is this going to be a great conference?
