Nanotechnology is the science of manipulating atoms and moleculeson a scale so small they cant be seen with anordinary microscope.Its about coaxing them into displaying unusual properties, such as amaterial 10 times asstrong as steel, but a fraction of itsweight, or solar panels that produce fuel rather than electricity. <\/p>\n
While nanotech has the potential to transform society in ways noone ever thought of before, its also been thesubject of much hype. <\/p>\n
Some would say it has not met expectations, saysProfessor Perovic, Canadas nabob of nanotechnology. Whileit hasnt taken off in the areas people predicted it would take off,it has become huge in unpredictable areas. <\/p>\n
