HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDER LITIGATED
The Nasimi District Court chaired by judge Elman Ahmedov held a hearing on the lawsuit brought by Rasim Aliyev, head of the Forensic Medicine and Pathological Anatomy Department of the Defense Ministry, against human rights defender Alakbar Mammadov. Aliyev claims that his honor and dignity were damaged by Mammadov. According to Aliyev, the human rights defender spread false information in the media about the removal and sale of internal organs of dead soldiers. Aliyev demands that Mammadov make an apology and pay 100000AZN in compensation and transfer that amount to the account of the Armed Forces Assistance Fund. In turn, the human rights defender has filed a countersuit claiming to be insulted by Rasim Aliyev. Mammadov objected to the judge, when the latter refused to hear the witnesses of the rights defender. However his objection was rejected.
