Well we went to Santiago with fairly low expectations and were pleasantly surprised.  First of all our hostel is gorgeous Los Amazonas on Vicuna McKenna.  Around were lots of trees parks and restaurants.  We did a Free Tour on our first day meeting in the Plaza de Armas in the historic centre.
