Brian Berman, M.D., founder and director of the University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine, received the Sir Alister McIntyre Distinguished Lecture Award from the University of the West Indies and University of Technology, Jamaica. The annual award is given to a distinguished physician and researcher. Dr. Berman received the award at the 18th Annual International Diabetes Conference. At the conference, he presented the Sir Alister McIntyre Distinguished Lecture, \"Integrative Practices for Diabetes Management.\" <\/p>\n
Founded in 1991, the University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine was the first program within a U.S. academic medical center to investigate complementary and alternative medicine through research, patient care and education. It has been a National Institutes of Health Center of Excellence for Research of Complementary Medicine for the past 15 years. <\/p>\n
