Beaches on the northern end of South Padre Island have been closed amid high tides and dangerous rip currents in the Gulf of Mexico. <\/p>\n
Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos has issued an order to shut down Beach Access 5 and Beach Access 6 on South Padre Island on Tuesday morning. <\/p>\n
Judge Cascos told Action 4 News that the decision was made based on dangerous rip currents and high tides on the northern end of the Island. <\/p>\n
Law enforcement officials are preventing vehicles or people from entering the beaches. <\/p>\n
Strong winds from a recent cold front are being blamed for the dangerous conditions. <\/p>\n
Judge Cascos said authorities will continue to monitor weather conditions. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
