The Radiometric Sensor Development

\n(SEDD) at the U.S. Army Research
\nLaboratory (ARL) has developed a 2D
\nlaser profiling scanner system to study its
\noperational characteristics, performance,
\nand effectiveness in detecting targets in
\nthe battlefield and homeland security
\nenvironments. A profiling scanner provides
\noutput images that reveal the size,
\nheight, and outline or shape of an object.
\nThis information can be useful in a wide
\nrange of applications, ranging from simple
\nintrusion detection, to monitoring of
\nparts during a manufacturing process for
