Cordele Georgia Veterans State Park will host an astronomy night Saturday, Aug. 11 from 9 to 11 p.m. on the astronomy field south of the airplane exhibit. <\/p>\n
Participants should pick up star charts and other information and pay the $1 program fee at the park office. <\/p>\n
Meteors from the Perseid meteor shower will be at their peak. Also visible that evening will be Saturn, Mars and first magnitude stars such as Arcturus, Antares and Vega. <\/p>\n
Telescopes and astronomical binoculars will be set up in the astronomy field, but visitors may bring their own eqiupment if they wish. <\/p>\n
This program is dependent on the weather and may be cancelled due to cloud cover, rain or lightning. <\/p>\n
