The first appointment to the board is David V. Feliciano, MD, FACS, one of the foremost leaders in general surgery and trauma care in the United States. Dr. Feliciano is on the medical staff at the Atlanta Medical Center, professor of surgery at the Mercer University School of Medicine, and associate director of Critical Care at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. He is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Trauma, the American Surgeon, and the American Journal of Surgery. He is president of the Panamerican Trauma Society and the Atlanta Surgical Association, and has been president of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Southwestern Surgical Congress, the Western Trauma Association, and the Georgia Surgical Society. He has held leadership positions with major national organizations in surgery, including director of the American Board of Surgery and chair of the Advisory Council for General Surgery of the American College of Surgeons. <\/p>\n
