{"id":49136,"date":"2012-07-05T18:13:54","date_gmt":"2012-07-05T18:13:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/futurist-transhuman-news-blog\/uncategorized\/muhammad-ali-named-2012-liberty-medal-recipient.php"},"modified":"2012-07-05T18:13:54","modified_gmt":"2012-07-05T18:13:54","slug":"muhammad-ali-named-2012-liberty-medal-recipient","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/futurist-transhuman-news-blog\/liberty\/muhammad-ali-named-2012-liberty-medal-recipient.php","title":{"rendered":"Muhammad Ali named 2012 Liberty Medal recipient"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>    PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Boxing great Muhammad Ali is the recipient    of the 2012 Liberty Medal.  <\/p>\n<p>    Ali will receive the medal in a ceremony on Sept. 13 in    Philadelphia at the National Constitution Center on    Independence Mall.  <\/p>\n<p>    Mayor Michael Nutter and Liberty Medal sponsors made the    announcement Thursday.  <\/p>\n<p>    They say Ali has built a legacy as a ''fighter for religious    and civil rights, a conscientious objector who took his battle    to the Supreme Court and won, an ambassador for peace and    justice worldwide, and a tireless humanitarian and    philanthropist.''  <\/p>\n<p>    The Liberty Medal was first given in 1989. Previous recipients    include rock singer and human rights activist Bono, former    South African President Nelson Mandela and former President    Jimmy Carter.
