TEL AVIV (JTA) -- Safed Academic College, in northern Israel, will offer a bachelors degree in mysticism and spirituality. <\/p>\n
Safed is the historical center of kabbalah, the Jewish mystical tradition. Students in the program will study not only Jewish mysticism and spirituality, but also Sufism, Shamanism, American Indian mysticism, Zen, Hinduism and other mystical traditions, according to Haaretz. After taking introductory courses in mysticism, students will study three areas: kabbalah, current spirituality and electives in other religions. <\/p>\n
Involvement in spirituality and mysticism is vibrant today, and is one of the most requested educational specializations, program director Mariana Ruach-Midbar told Haaretz. We want to bring the general public closer to academic study of the subject. <\/p>\n
