Volunteers prepare for World Choir Games <\/p>\n
About 15,000 participants from 64 countries and 22 U.S. states will travel to Cincinnati July 4-14 for the 7th World Choir Games. <\/p>\n
More than 200 public events are highlighted by a performance from Grammy-winning gospel star Marvin Winans and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra during the Closing Ceremony at U.S. Bank Arena. <\/p>\n
The Games will kick off with an opening ceremony July 4 at Great American Ballpark. <\/p>\n
This event will be the first World Choir Games held in the United States. The games are held every other year, and will be in Riga, Latvia, in 2014.<\/p>\n
The Parade of Nations co-Grand Marshals are Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bootsy Collins and Mayor Mark Mallory.<\/p>\n
To get the final touches right, 1,200 volunteers got the scoop Tuesday night on how to greet and care for the thousands of visitors from overseas.<\/p>\n
\"I think everyone realizes they're going to be the face of the games. They're going to be the ones to interact with the visitors and some of the choirs. They're going to make a great experience for all the people coming here,\" said Michael Perry, a promotions worker for the 2012 World Choir Games.<\/p>\n
The badges to get into the performances are ready to be passed out and many Cincinnati residents said they're excited for the event.<\/p>\n
\"Cincinnati is growing in entertainment and excitement and it felt like the right thing to do,\" West Side resident Ron Willingham said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
