The cuts are part of House Bill 1, which goes to the Senate floor this week. If the proposed cuts are approved, officials say the hospital would eventually collapse. <\/p>\n
With 6,000 employees, the hospital is Shreveport-Bossier's largest employer and generates about $773 million annually in economic development in the community. <\/p>\n
The LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine treats approximately 400,000 patients a year and produces 70 percent of the doctors who practice medicine in Louisiana. <\/p>\n
