SIBU: Power supply has been disconnected to 41 illegal online gambling premises 37 in Sibu and four in Dalat in a massive crackdown.<\/p>\n
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said a combined operation involving police and Sesco (Syarikat Sesco Berhad) was conducted from 1pm to 4.30pm on Thursday (Sept 10) to disconnect electricity supply to these illegal gambling premises.<\/p>\n
The team included an assistant superintendent of police, two inspectors and 10 policemen. Joining them were seven technicians from SEB.<\/p>\n
\"All of these premises had been issued notices on the disconnection,\" he said.<\/p>\n
ACP Stanley said the process of cutting off electricity supply was smooth. It was carried out under Section 21A of the Common Gambling House Act 1953.<\/p>\n
Mukah OCPD Deputy Supt Jimmy Panyau said the successful operation in the four premises in Dalat, Stapang, and Oya area meant they could no longer continue illegal online gambling activities.<\/p>\n
\"We will continue with the operation until such activity is wiped out from the district,\" he assured.<\/p>\n
He also welcomed information from the public on any illegal online gambling activity for the police to act on.<\/p>\n
