Credit: NASA\/Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory\/Carnegie Institution of Washington<\/p><\/div><p>Wow, look at this beautiful example of a crater.&nbsp; It has a nice central peak and steep walls, unknown what the bright material is on the floor.<\/p><p>This crater has not been named although&nbsp; I would imagine this crater will get some study and be named after a time.<\/p><p>The image was taken by the MESSENGER spacecraft&rsquo;s Narrow Angle Camera so the resolution is very high, just 100 meters\/pixel with the crater being about 22 miles (36 km) in diameter.<\/p><p>The crater is located at Latitude -54.33<sup>o<\/sup> and Longitude 311.2<sup>o<\/sup><\/p><p><a title=\"Anti clump picture hahaha\" href=\"http:\/\/tomsastroblog.com\/images\/messenger092811rotated.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><br><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nice Specimen of a Crater.
