A Morgan Park family is making sure their daughter and her friend get the ceremony they deserve for completing medical school.<\/p>\n
CHICAGO - In the era of coronavirus, typical graduations have become non-existent.<\/p>\n
So, one Morgan Park family is making sure their daughter and her friend getthe ceremony they deserve for completing medical school.<\/p>\n
The front yard of Lindsay Howards home says it all. There is a banner and balloons, because she and her medical school roommate are both graduating virtually.<\/p>\n
Lindsays family is making sure it is a moment they will never forget.<\/p>\n
Ive been waiting for this moment for 24 years, Lindsay said.<\/p>\n
Since she was 5-years-old, Lindsay dreamed of becoming a doctor. But graduating from the Medical College of Wisconsin during the coronavirus crisis was not quite what she expected.<\/p>\n
I was really kind of bummed out when everything got canceled, Lindsay said.<\/p>\n
That is when her family stepped in.<\/p>\n
We had to find a way to still make it very special for her, Lindsays brother Larry said.<\/p>\n
So, they turned on the music, got dressed up, put up some decorations, and held the momentous Hooding Ceremony from Lindsays backyard.<\/p>\n
The Hooding Ceremony is just one aspect of them moving towards being conferred as a doctor, said Lindsays mother Gail.<\/p>\n
During their socially distant celebration, family joined virtually from afar.<\/p>\n
The Howards also honored Lindsays roommate, Brandy Norman, who is from Las Vegas and could not celebrate with her own family.<\/p>\n
Its been amazing. A lot of med-school I wouldnt have gotten through without them, Brandy said.<\/p>\n
Even a photographer was present to capture the unique milestone on camera.<\/p>\n
I couldnt be more proud, brother Larry said.<\/p>\n
Lindsay and Brandys virtual graduation ceremony will be held Friday.<\/p>\n
