But, things were more interesting at the state and federal levels.<\/p>\n<p>Several primary races emerged for state legislative seats, and three Jefferson Countians filed for congressional seats.<\/p>\n<p>Filings opened Tuesday, and will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 31. Candidates in the primary will vie for their political partys nomination for whatever office theyre seeking.<\/p>\n<p>Winners of primary elections will face off in the Nov. 3 general election, when the U.S. presidential election also will be held.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates for county offices file at the Jefferson County Administration Center, 729 Maple St., in Hillsboro, while candidates for state offices file in Jefferson City.<\/p>\n<p>According to information provided by Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, candidates who filed the first day were given a random number to determine the order their names will appear on the ballot. After the first day, candidates are placed on the ballot in the order of their filing.<\/p>\n<p>Filings for local seats as of 5 p.m. Tuesday are listed below, with incumbents marked with an (I).<\/p>\n<p> Jefferson County Council<\/p>\n<p>District 2  Republican Renee Reuter, Imperial (I).<\/p>\n<p>District 4  Republican Charles Groeteke, Barnhart (I).<\/p>\n<p>District 6  No filings by the end of business Tuesday. Republican Dan Stallman is the incumbent.<\/p>\n<p>For 2020, even-numbered districts are up for election.
