RAMSAY World Travel are going places with a new shop set to open in Dunfermline.<\/p>\n
Subway moved from Douglas Street into the Kingsgate Shopping Centre recently and the holiday firm are making the opposite journey, taking over the empty premises in Douglas Street.<\/p>\n
Commercial manager Dave Terry said: \"The new shop opens on Monday, February 17.<\/p>\n
\"It's a really good area; it's on the street from the bus station and the Kingsgate and two seconds from the High Street.<\/p>\n
\"I think that's going to be perfect; it's a bigger shop too so we can get more desks in.<\/p>\n
\"We will be recruiting, yes, we've got seven at the moment and will be moving up to 10 staff.<\/p>\n
\"Basically, the idea is to get more business which means more staff.\"<\/p>\n
Asked why they were moving out of the Kingsgate, he explained: \"We've bought the premises in Douglas Street.<\/p>\n
\"Our company policy now is to buy the premises where previously we've rented.<\/p>\n
\"We wanted to be out on the street and closer to the High Street too as it's better for us.<\/p>\n
\"Most of our shops are a hop, skip and a jump from the high street; it works for us as you don't have to pay the high costs but you get the benefits from it.\"<\/p>\n
It's a financial commitment from Ramsay World Travel, who are investing in the town centre when others are moving out.<\/p>\n
Mr Terry said the model works for them and added: \"We get a lot of business from the website and from Facebook but the shops are our bread and butter.<\/p>\n
\"There are still a lot of people who want to come in, sit down and get some advice about booking their holiday.<\/p>\n
\"What advice can you give someone on a computer?<\/p>\n
\"How do they know they're getting the best deal or the best hotel?<\/p>\n
\"With us, they can ask questions and we have the knowledge to advise them.<\/p>\n
\"I know a lot of companies have moved completely onto the internet but we'll always have shops.\"<\/p>\n
He added: \"We've just had our accounts through which show our turnover has increased, year on year, for the 35th year in a row.<\/p>\n
\"What's it down to? Hard work I suppose.<\/p>\n
\"Every year since we started we've managed to increase the turnover and profits and this year was no exception.\"<\/p>\n
