In 1983, Canadian jazz legend Oscar Peterson performed a piece of music calledPeacein Tokyo. The track was a part of hisAfrica Suite,completed in 1979.<\/p>\n
In an earlier concert, Peterson performed a track calledNigerian Marketplace, which was also part of theAfrica Suite.<\/p>\n
But Peterson never performed the suite its entirety during his lifetime. In fact, onlya small handful of songs from the suite were performed at all.<\/p>\n
That will all change this week. On Wednesday, Feb. 12 12 years after Peterson's death hisAfrica Suitewill make its world premiere at Toronto's Koerner Hall.<\/p>\n
The event, which is part of the largerOscar Peterson International Jazz Festival,is organised by the jazz artist's late wife, Kelly Peterson, and features hisprotege and collaborator, Benny Green, on piano.<\/p>\n
