For those who don&rsquo;t know the story, it started on Saturday when I had a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/edyong.posterous.com\/i-think-you-have-all-you-need-for-a-blog\">spot of bother getting hold of a scientist&rsquo;s contact details <\/a> thanks to a none-too-helpful press officer called Aeron Haworth. I put up the email chain <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/edyong.posterous.com\/i-think-you-have-all-you-need-for-a-blog\">on my Posterous blog<\/a> (including the now-infamous line &ldquo;I think you have all you need for a blog&rdquo;), which led to an all-out outing on <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/embargowatch.wordpress.com\/2011\/02\/14\/how-to-demonstrate-youre-not-about-transparency-and-piss-off-reporters-as-a-pio\/\">Ivan Oransky&rsquo;s Embargo Watch<\/a> and a&hellip; er&hellip; lively comment thread. Maryn McKenna <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/wiredscience\/2011\/02\/pr-sad-cautionary\/\">did the best job of summarising the subsequent events<\/a> and collating links to the various takes (of which I&rsquo;ll highlight Deborah Blum&rsquo;s not least because it offers <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.plos.org\/speakeasyscience\/2011\/02\/16\/in-defense-of-science-blogs-yes-again\/\"> support to <em>all<\/em> science blogs<\/a> and because I chuckled at the bit where she dusts off her Pulitzer and uses it as a rhetorical cosh).
