NEWPORT-The Cocke County Legislative Body approved a longevity plan during Tuesday's meeting that will provide $2,500 for 11 employees with more than 25 years of service to the county. <\/p>\n
County Finance Director Anne Bryant-Hurst pointed out the creation of a longevity plan for employees from the Highway Department, Landfill and General Fund is designed like the longevity plans already in place for the Sheriff's Office and Cocke County Fire Department. <\/p>\n
Bryant-Hurst, however, pointed out that employees who have served more than 25 years would be left out; in some cases, there would have been employees with less years making more money. <\/p>\n
\"They wouldn't get anything, now or in the future,\" she said. \"If you implement this, they will get $2,500.\" <\/p>\n
