There are some strange goings-on in county politics these days. <\/p>\n
Jay Urdahl, a Democrat supervisor who has been in office 24 years, is being opposed by another Democrat, John Jaszewski, in the June 5 primary. <\/p>\n
Some opponents claim Urdahls long tenure is an example of why there should be term limits for office holders. <\/p>\n
Urdahl and other longtime office holders will tell you there already are term limits; voters have the opportunity to oust elected officials every four years. <\/p>\n
The challenge of defeating an incumbent like Urdahl in a primary is daunting because it is asking Democrats who have supported him for nearly a quarter-century to suddenly stop doing it. <\/p>\n
It is Jaszewskis task to convince Democrats to switch horses. <\/p>\n
Gary Blodgett, a conservative Republican former state legislator, has lent his name to fundraising efforts for Urdahl giving credence to the old adage of politics making strange bedfellows. <\/p>\n
Urdahls opponents within the Democratic Party cry \"foul at the notion of him seeking and accepting help from a Republican. <\/p>\n
Urdahl supporters say it is a sign of bipartisan support for him. <\/p>\n
There doesnt seem to be much buzz about Jaszewski taking on a fellow Democrat. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
