REHOVOT, ISRAEL Dr. Clifford E. (Chaim Tzvi) Felder, 59, died after a brief illness in Rehovot, Israel where he has lived since 1981. He was a Research Associate in Theoretical Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Weizmann Institute of Science. <\/p>\n
Dr. Felder, born in Fall River, MA., was an honors graduate of Duke University, received an MS from Brandeis University and a PhD in Theoretical Biochemistry from Iowa State University. At Weizmann, Dr. Felder has been an integral member of two teams of scientists exploring the molecular modeling of proteins, drugs and other organic\/organometallic compounds. Among his numerous publications and accomplishments, he wrote a server that calculates dipole moments of proteins. <\/p>\n
In addition to many accomplishments, Dr. Felder faced challenges in his life with a special sweetness and strength that inspired many. He loved playing the piano. He was devoted member of his Religious community where he participated in study of Torah and lived his life in fulfillment of its highest ideals. <\/p>\n
He was the son of Louise Felder currently of Providence, RI and the late David E. Felder. He is also survived by his brother Fred of Providence, RI, and his brother Lloyd and his sister-in-law Deborah of Dartmouth, MA. He is also survived by his niece Laura, a medical student at Georgetown, and his nephew Daniel, a financial analyst in NYC. <\/p>\n
Memorial Shiva week continues through Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., excluding the Sabbath, at his brother Fred's residence at 30 Miles Ave., Providence and will conclude at his mother's residence at EPOCH on Butler Ave., in Providence, RI. <\/p>\n
