A former plant researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is accused of growing marijuana in a university lab. <\/p>\n
A Wisconsin State Journal report said 45-year-old Christopher J. Schwartz was charged Friday with two felony counts of marijuana manufacturing and possession. <\/p>\n
Prosecutors said someone discovered 12 marijuana plants being grown inside a growth chamber in the biochemistry building last month. The criminal complaint said the chamber was used by Schwartz and locked with a padlock. <\/p>\n
A university spokeswoman said Schwartz was initially placed on administrative leave after his arrest, but he resigned late last month. <\/p>\n
No working telephone listing for Schwartz could be found Saturday. Online court records didn't list a defense attorney for him. <\/p>\n
The complaint said Schwartz acknowledged growing the plants for personal use. <\/p>\n
