At Dickson Mounds Museum on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 from 7-10 p.m., visitors are invited to enjoy a new event, Family Night: Astronomy. <\/p>\n
Participants of all ages may discover the intricacies of the night sky through telescopes, a star lab, and related crafts. A portable planetarium will provide a view of the stars, rain or shine. The program will also include a chance for participants to enjoy viewing the Perseid Meteor Shower throughout the Museums grounds. <\/p>\n
Admission is free; however, donations are appreciated. Registration is not required. Participants are encouraged to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs to use for the outdoor portion of the event. <\/p>\n
The Illinois State Museum-Dickson Mounds is located between Lewistown and Havana off Illinois Routes 78 and 97. The museum is open free to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
