VANCOUVER The Vancouver Canucks announced new head coach Travis Greens coaching staff on Wednesday, with one of his assistants with the Utica Comets, Nolan Baumgartner, joining him on the NHL club. <\/p>\n
Baumgartner was named an assistant coach with the Canucks along with Newell Brown, Doug Jarvis and Manny Malhotra. <\/p>\n
Dan Cloutier was named the goaltending coach, Glenn Carnegie was named the skills coach and Ben Cooper was hired as the video coach. <\/p>\n
The Canucks said that Brown and Baumgartner will join Green behind the bench, taking the lead with the forwards and defensemen, respectively. <\/p>\n
On the special teams front, Brown will oversee the power play and Baumgartner will oversee the penalty kill. <\/p>\n
Brown joins the Canucks for his second stint as an assistant coach after serving the same capacity from 2010-2013, when he helped the team to consecutive Presidents Trophies in 2010-11 and 2011-12 in addition to an appearance in the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. <\/p>\n
Brown spent the previous four seasons as an assistant coach with the Arizona Coyotes. <\/p>\n
Baumgartner was alongside Green in Utica with the Comets, bringing them to a Calder Cup Final berth in 2015. <\/p>\n
He began his coaching career in 2012-13 as an assistant coach to the Chicago Wolves. <\/p>\n
Baumgartner also played professional hockey for 17 years, .including 143 NHL regular season games. <\/p>\n
Carnegie will move into an expanded role, developing prospects in the system, such as the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League. <\/p>\n
