Second-seeded Parkland used the foul line to pull away for a 65-54 victory over No. 7Freedom in the District 11 Class 6A quarterfinals on Thursday night at Whitehall High Schools Coach Tracy Court. <\/p>\n
Turning point: Freedom went ice cold to start the second half and Parkland manufactured points at the foul line to fuel a 13-2 run, which turned a two-point halftime lead into a 43-30 advantage with 2:25 remaining in the third quarter. <\/p>\n
The Trojans went 23-for-30 from the foul line in the second half. <\/p>\n
Top performers: Emily Piston had a game-high 19 points for the Trojans, making 9 of her 12 free throws. Kassidy Stout finished with 15 points, all in the first three quarters. <\/p>\n
Hailey Silfies led the Patriots with 15 points. <\/p>\n
What it means: Parkland (18-6) advances to meet Easton, which defeated Allen, in the district semifinals on Monday at a time and site to be determined. <\/p>\n
Freedom, which was making its first district playoff appearance since 2010, closes out the year at 14-10. <\/p>\n
