Stargazers were given a crash course in the night sky and understanding the cosmos above it at a Cambridge hotel on Monday evening (February 20). <\/p>\n
Paul Fellows, Chairman of the Cambridge Astronomical Association (CAA) and Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, hosted the master class at The Varsity Hotel & Spa in the city centre, the first of two events taking place this year. <\/p>\n
The event has proved popular with a previous class selling out in just four hours. <\/p>\n
Mr Fellows gave guests a unique guided tour of the sky and used a high powered laser pointer to pick out and explain the most beautiful and interesting celestial objects. <\/p>\n
While it was too cloudy for the session to be on the rooftop terrace, the class was brought inside for an indoor presentation of the night sky, with a live question and answer session. <\/p>\n
After exploring the heavens, the stargazers enjoyed a two course meal in the hotels panoramic bar and brasserie, SIX. <\/p>\n
A second astronomy evening is taking place on March 6. <\/p>\n
