Ferguson is still in the news. Its a political correctness issue now and its amazing how long the reach is of out-of-control sensitivity. <\/p>\n
Ferguson officials are being criticized for using a Humvee in a police program to educate children about the dangers of drugs. Residents told the city council that using a Humvee for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program is insensitive. Police vehicles, including Humvees, were used to restore peace during the protests over the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in 2014. <\/p>\n
The police chief said the Humvee was chosen because it is an attention-grabber. Good idea, we say. <\/p>\n
Should police be banned in Ferguson because they are a reminder of the shooting incident? <\/p>\n
Then another concern in Ferguson is about the name of the DARE mascot, called Daren the Lion. The officer who shot Brown was Darren Wilson, who resigned over the shooting death. He was cleared of any wrongdoing. Police Commander Frank McCall says the name is used nationally and has no connection to the shooting. <\/p>\n
Whats next? Change the name of Ferguson because the name is a reminder of the protests that occurred after the shooting? <\/p>\n
