The Program in Medical Education (PME) at Harvard Medical School is the organizational structure housing the educational programs leading to the MD degree. Under the leadership of the Dean for Medical Education and the Associate Dean for Medical Education Planning and Administration, the offices of the PME are responsible for all aspects of the educational plan and for development and review of educational policies. <\/p>\n
Five academic units report to the Dean for Medical Education, who also serves as chair of the Curriculum Committee (see Curriculum Governance). These units include Admissions; the Academic Societies; the Academy\/Center for Teaching and Learning; the Center for Evaluation; and Student Affairs. <\/p>\n
A parallel administrative structure is overseen by a chief administrative officer reporting directly to the DME. The Associate Dean for Medical Education Planning and Administration has responsibility for all administrative functions in the PME, including Financial Administration, Curriculum Programs, Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrars Office, and the Academy. Reporting to the Associate Dean is a team of senior administrative staff who work together to facilitate communication throughout the PME, develop administrative policies and procedures, and plan events or programs. Each area of the PME has a representative on a Senior Administrators Group, chaired by the Associate Dean, including the Academy, the Academic Societies, Admissions, the Center for Evaluation, Curriculum Programs, Financial Aid, Financial Administration, the DMEs Office, the Registrars Office, Scholars in Medicine, and Student Affairs. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
