SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Summer-like weather Satruday sent San Diegans to the beaches to beat the heat. <\/p>\n
As of about 3:45 p.m., lifeguards said San Diego's beaches were busy, but had only conducted routine rescues. <\/p>\n
However, they did have to pull a dog out of the mud after it strayed from its owner at Dog Beach. It got stuck on the bank of the San Diego River about 2:30 p.m., but was later rescued, lifeguards said. <\/p>\n
Temperatures in the low 80s were recorded in parts of San Diego, and of 75 degrees at Lindbergh Field shortly before 3 p.m. The National WeatherService said this February was the warmest on record with temperatures in most areas well above the average. <\/p>\n
The warm weather is expected to continue early in the upcoming week, but should weaken slightly as a storm system moves into the Pacific Northwest midweek, according to the weather service. But San Diego County is expected to stay dry and only slightly cooler weather was forecast. <\/p>\n
Building high pressure is then expected to create warmer weather toward the end of next week. Forecasters said highs of 78 to 83 degrees were expected on Friday along the coast, 80 to 85 in the western valleys, 68 to 77 in themountains and 84 to 89 in the deserts. <\/p>\n
