Liberty has fired coach Dale Layer.The school announced the news on Wednesday, the same day Liberty fell to UNC Asheville in the Big South tournament. <\/p>\n
The Flames went 8-24 and posted a 2-16 mark in conference play this season.Over six seasons under Layer, Liberty went 82-113 with one NCAA Tournament appearance, in 2013. <\/p>\n
Layer was named the Big South coach of the year in 2011, after Liberty recorded a program-record 13 conference wins in the Big South and finished in second place in the conference. <\/p>\n
Prior to taking over Liberty, Layer coached Colorado State from 2000 to 2007. <\/p>\n
