{"id":184391,"date":"2015-02-17T13:48:17","date_gmt":"2015-02-17T18:48:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/futurist-transhuman-news-blog\/uncategorized\/liberty-group-studies-options-for-sewage-plant.php"},"modified":"2015-02-17T13:48:17","modified_gmt":"2015-02-17T18:48:17","slug":"liberty-group-studies-options-for-sewage-plant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/futurist-transhuman-news-blog\/liberty\/liberty-group-studies-options-for-sewage-plant.php","title":{"rendered":"Liberty group studies options for sewage plant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>    Liberty is studying what to do with its sewage plant.  <\/p>\n<p>    A citizen advisory committee met for the first time last week,    council president Christopher Gretz said at Monday's monthly    council meeting.  <\/p>\n<p>    The committee is mulling over whether rates could be increased    to cover $1 million in repairs needed to bring it in compliance    with state Act 537, or if the plant should be sold.  <\/p>\n<p>    The panel includes Gretz and Councilman Mark Suckfiel,    residents Dave Cochran, Tom Sichelstiel and Cathy Beadling and    borough engineer Don Glenn.  <\/p>\n<p>    Another resident submitted a letter to council. Samuel J.    Holloway urged a camera inspection of the plant by an approved    company to show what needs corrected.  <\/p>\n<p>    Holloway estimated an inspection might cost $106,000. He said    the borough is behind schedule with a dye test to determine if    stormwater is infiltrating the sanitary sewers.  <\/p>\n<p>    Gretz said the date of the next committee meeting will be    determined by when Glenn can attend. Glenn's North    Huntingdon-based company provides engineering services to    numerous municipalities.  <\/p>\n<p>    Liberty police are getting funds from the Allegheny County    District Attorney's Office for a new Taser, Councilman Jason    Ruzich said.  <\/p>\n<p>    The borough is saving money on electric bills, Councilman S.    Larry Sikorski said.
