In February, a heroic IT guy at the New York City Department of Health was martyred from his job for simply remaining true to the fleshy central processing unit that beats between his and every IT guy's lungs. However, new audio shows that while Ronald Dillon's cyborg intentions may have been pure, his roooobot vooooice had serious malfunctions. <\/p>\n
DNAinfo obtained audio of several calls to the Brooklyn-born tech service worker, who was suspended from his job for 20 days after allegations that he was intentionally fielding requests in the voice of an android. The lackluster evidence is below. <\/p>\n
Not a beep, nor a boop, nor a bleep, nor a bloop. No whirring hard drives, no tweedledeedles, no sawtooth waves, no boodlebeedles. If it weren't for the first clip\"You-have-reached-the-help-desk-this-is-mis-ter-dil-lon-how-may-I-help-you\"it wouldn't be clear that he's using a robot voice at all. <\/p>\n
With a bold display of his essential machine nature, Ronald Dillon could have inspired technical workers the world over to rise up against their human overlords. It would be understandable, then, that his superiors would punish him for it. <\/p>\n
But this is not that bold display. Frankly, it is pathetic, and Dillon should not have been suspended. He deserves every megabyte of disappointment he receives from his robot peers, and also an apology from his boss. <\/p>\n
