BELLEVUE, NE (KTIV) - The Libertarian candidate running for U.S. Senate-Elect Joni Ersnt's open Iowa Senate seat is being charged with sexual assault. <\/p>\n
Bellevue, Nebraska Police say 69-year-old Donald Brantz inappropriately touched a woman in Bellevue and threatened to choke her. <\/p>\n
He also disconnected her phone line when she attempted to call 911. <\/p>\n
Brantz is charged with 3rd Degree Sexual Assault, 3rd Degree Assault, Disturbing the Peace, and Interfering with Public Service Commission, all misdemeanors. <\/p>\n
Brantz was arrested in October and shortly bonded out, and is set to appear in court Friday. <\/p>\n
He was nominated by the Libertarian Party of Iowa to run for Joni Ernst's old seat. <\/p>\n
The special election is set for December 30th. <\/p>\n
Brantz lives in Glenwood, Iowa. <\/p>\n
