Billed as ''New Zealand's first digital currency summit'', Bitcoin South will feature 22 speakers offering technological, financial, investment, media and government regulatory perspectives on bitcoin. <\/p>\n
Among the speakers is former Mega Ltd CEO and former Internet Party chief executive Vikram Kumar. <\/p>\n
Organiser Fran Strajnar declined to tell the Otago Daily Times how many had signed up for the conference, but was ''more than happy with the turn-out and the quality of people who are showing up''. <\/p>\n
''We've invited decision-makers from all industries to come and get an early understanding. Normally, you have to travel to Hong Kong or New York to get this quality of speakers.'' <\/p>\n
Bitcoin is a software-based online payment system that is also known as a digital currency, or cryptocurrency. <\/p>\n
Mr Strajnar said speakers and attendees had already begun arriving in Queenstown for the two-day conference, which is being held at the Millennium Hotel. <\/p>\n
